The Eastbay 45 SX by Grand Banks is one of a new breed from the renowned builder reflecting state of the art design and construction. She evolved from the earlier Eastbay 43 hull to offer more beam and volume yielding improved layouts, upscale detail and joinery, advanced engineering, materials and production methods. "My Bonny" was conceived and custom built to the specifications of her very experienced owners. Her layout incorporates the study / guest cabin arrangement below to starboard. This brings tremendous versatility for the cruising couple while comfortably accommodating guests in a private cabin when needed. The large concealing pocket doors, adjacent to the galley when open, make a huge impact in the lower deck common spaces. A flip up/down writing desk with chair in this cabin allows a dedicated space for correspondence or keeping up with business while cruising.

The layout is double cabin master forward with island modified queen berth, versatile guest cabin/study to starboard, single head with separate stall shower, galley down open overhead to above salon deck. The helm shares space with the salon where there is abundant seating including a U-shaped dinette with custom table suitable for entertaining and dining for six. The salon door exits aft to the large cockpit which has additional custom seating and amenities.

Entry to the salon is facilitated by a Dutch door which splits for great ventilation. Upon entry of the salon the dramatic curved aft glass panels give way to large opening side and front windows, creating 360 degree visibility and exceptional ventilation. To starboard is a settee with custom cabinetry that houses the concealed TV which rises at the press of a button, then swivels for optimum viewing throughout the salon.

Galley is down and to Port across from the Guest State Room. Several large drawers were positioned beneath the cooktop with organizer systems to stow dishes, pots and pans. Two drawers were installed in the locker beneath the sink. The galley is equipped with top load freezer and dry stores with hinging lids in the granite counter. The advent of the sliding pocket doors to the study/guest cabin make a tremendous special improvement in the galley and adjacent space.

The master cabin is forward and configured with an island modified queen berth with large drawers beneath. Custom mattress, fitted bedding with shams and throw pillows adorn. The cabin sides are beautifully built out with numerous cabinets, lockers and drawers with hull sides finished with beautiful Teak batten boards. The overhead is suspended Nautilux vinyl with recessed Cantalupi lighting and shaded reading lights frame the upholstered headboard. Ventilation and natural light is provided by 2 opening stainless steel portlights and an overhead opening deck hatch all with screens and shades. The head with stall is accessible en-suite from this cabin as well as from the passageway.

The study / guest cabin arrangement offers the optimum versatility available in the 45SX.  It is easily adaptable to the varying needs of a cruising boat in this size.  A flip up / down writing desk with chair forms a dedicated space for correspondence or to keep up on business while cruising yet stows away when not needed. The concealing pocket doors provide privacy, yet when open significantly enhance the spaciousness around the galley.
