The Regal 4060 Commodore (also evolving from the 3860 Commodore) is a luxurious 40-foot express cruiser produced by Regal Yachts approximately from 2007–2010. It is designed for comfortable coastal cruising, overnight stays, entertaining, and family boating, blending solid performance with upscale accommodations and a high-quality fit and finish.

It offers a balance of performance, luxury, and ease of handling (particularly with IPS), making it suitable for couples or small families seeking a capable mid-size express cruiser. Market values for used 2008 models typically range from the mid-six figures depending on condition, hours, and options.

Owners Comments

This 2008 Regal 4060 Commodore has been exceptionally well cared for throughout its life and represents a rare opportunity to acquire a low-hour, lightly used popular Regal express cruiser.

We purchased the boat in 2011 with fewer than 100 engine hours and are only the second owners. Today, the twin Volvo Penta IPS diesel engines have just under 200 original hours, and the Kohler generator has approximately 175 hours. The boat has never been chartered and has been used primarily for short family cruising and anchoring out for the day on weekends.

From 2013 through 2020, the boat was kept at Burnham Harbor in Chicago and professionally serviced annually by Crowley’s Yacht Yard, with indoor winter storage each season. Since 2021, she has been berthed at Safe Harbor Marina in Quincy, Massachusetts, where all routine maintenance and service records have been maintained. The only season the boat was not launched was 2020 due to our relocation from Chicago to Boston.

The vessel has never experienced a grounding, collision, or insurance claim during our ownership, and we are not aware of any such events under prior ownership. All major systems are operational and have been consistently maintained. The boat shows exceptionally well both inside and out, with interior and exterior upholstery, bedding, appliances, canvas, and isinglass all in great condition.

Recent upgrades include a new Raymarine radar and navigation suite as well as new galley refrigerator and freezer units installed in 2024. The IPS pods were also professionally serviced in 2024, and bottom paint was completed for the current season.

The Regal 4060 offers a spacious two-stateroom, two-head layout, excellent performance, and the ease of handling that makes the Volvo IPS pod drive platform so desirable. We are selling only because our professional and family commitments no longer allow us to enjoy the boat as much as we once did.

Exterior and Deck Features

The cockpit is a standout for entertaining, featuring a large semicircular settee (often converting to a sun lounge), wet bar, storage, hardtop, cockpit AC/heat, and enclosure. A walk-through windshield provides easy bow access, complemented by a foredeck sun pad. The hydraulic engine hatch offers excellent access to the powerplants. Additional amenities often include a swim platform, anchor wash-down, and transom shower.

Interior Layout and Accomodations

The 4060 stands out in its class with a true two-stateroom, two-head layout (rare for a 40-footer, as the aft stateroom includes its own private head and shower):

• Master (Forward) Stateroom: Queen berth with storage, hanging lockers, opening hatch, and private access to the forward head.

• Aft Stateroom: Twin berths (convertible), vanity, and dedicated head/shower — providing privacy for guests or family.

• Salon/Galley: Spacious U-shaped dinette (converts to sleeper), high-gloss cherry woodwork with holly flooring accents, large windows for natural light, entertainment center (TV, stereo), and a well-equipped galley with refrigerator, stove, microwave, sink, and ample storage.

Propulsion and Performance

The 4060 offered with twin popular Volvo Penta IPS pod drives:

• Diesel/IPS: Twin Volvo Penta D6 diesels (e.g., 310–370 HP each) with IPS 400/500 pods, joystick docking, and counter-rotating duo props. Better fuel efficiency, maneuverability, and often 22–24+ knot cruise (up to ~30 knots top).

Performance highlights from tests include quick plaining (e.g., ~13 seconds) and good handling.
